Car Accident on Interstate 10 Kills Mother & Daughter

Posted on March 30,2012 in Uncategorized

On March 22, 2012, a 28-year-old San Antonio woman, Jessica Rodriguez, and her 10-year-old daughter, were killed when their vehicle was hit while parked on the side of the highway. The car crash occurred on Interstate 10 West, on the north side of San Antonio, as Rodriguez and her daughter waited in the car for Rodriguez’s fiancé to change the vehicle’s flat tire.

Authorities suspect that the man driving the vehicle that hit the parked car – moving it over 130 feet down the side of the highway – was drunk at the time of the accident. The driver, Christopher Lamar, has two previous two DWI convictions and could face criminal charges as a result of the two deaths.

Prior to the crash, Rodriguez had a birthday party planned for the evening of March 22. The planned birthday party turned into a fundraising event to help raise money to fund the funeral services. Norma Gil, Rodriguez’s mother and Kaylee’s grandmother, is in shock that her beloved daughter and granddaughter are no longer with her, yet she expressed her thanks to those who contributed to the funeral funds.

Regardless of whether Lamar is criminally charged for the deadly car accident, Rodriguez’s estate may pursue him in a civil lawsuit for the pain and suffering he has caused Rodriguez’s family members. If Gil, or another family member, is considering filing a Texas wrongful death lawsuit, they should consult a top New Braunfels wrongful death lawyer who can make sure they are fully compensated for their tragic loss.
