Family Law

Texas Domestic Violence Attorney

Unfortunately, domestic violence is often a critical part of many of the family law cases we take on at The Bettersworth Law Firm. We are committed to helping our clients obtain protective orders and take other measures to keep abusive partners or family members away from them and their children. We have helped people in New Braunfels, Texas and the surrounding communities and can do the same for you.

Arranging for Protective Orders Against Abusers

Protective orders are court-issued civil documents that prohibit family violence by previous offenders or by family members who threaten harm to their loved ones. In addition to preventing violence, protective orders can also prohibit abusive spouses or ex-spouses from intimidating family members or going to or near schools where children are present. They can also prohibit vindictive actions, such as transfer of real estate deeds, damage to property and withholding of visitation rights. Lastly, protective orders can mandate counseling for those who are abusing substances or exhibiting dangerous behaviors.
