James S. Bettersworth was raised in Texas and has dedicated his career to advocating for injured individuals throughout the state. He earned his undergraduate degree from Texas Lutheran University in 1995 and went on to receive his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio in 1997. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas on June 4, 1998, and is also licensed to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Over the past 28 years, Mr. Bettersworth has built a reputation for his aggressive yet straightforward approach to litigation. He and his team have worked tirelessly to protect the rights of thousands of injured clients, focusing on securing the strongest possible results in a timely and efficient manner. His primary practice areas include automobile accidents, 18-wheeler and commercial vehicle collisions, workplace injuries, and a broad range of personal injury matters.

Mr. Bettersworth is an active member of several distinguished professional organizations, including the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys, the San Antonio Trial Lawyers Association, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the State Bar of Texas, and the Texas Bar Foundation. He is also a member of the Federal Bar Association for the Western District of Texas.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Bettersworth has a long-standing commitment to community service. He served on the New Braunfels Independent School District Board of Trustees from 2010 to 2019, currently serves with the New Braunfels Education Foundation, and holds the position of Associate Judge for the City of New Braunfels.
