A Graphic Look at the Results of Distracted Driving

Posted on August 31, 2013 in Uncategorized

With technology intertwined in everyday life, it is easy for someone to become distracted while driving. For so many Texas drivers, answering the phone or reading a text while driving is common. However slight, distractions of any kind can cause someone to be injured in a car accident. In a bold campaign to make people aware of the dangers of texting while driving, director Werner Herzog made a short film for AT&T, as reported by NBCnews.com. The article warns its audience that the short film called “It can wait” is not easy to watch, as it is an honest discussion between victims and perpetrators.

Although it is only 35 minutes long, those who have been affected by a car accident will want to brace themselves for an honest impact. The documentary focuses on how texting while driving has caused two specific accidents. The first of the two accidents involved a young boy who is now paralyzed. The other stories are told by the two young men who caused the death of three people who were distracted by texting while driving. The people on the video are not actors. Aside from a few crime scene photos, the people on the video are the actual victims or perpetrators who were allowed to tell their stories at their own pace.

Videos and other campaigns of awareness such as this are a good start in the efforts to educate people about the dangers of being distracted while driving. However, distraction doesn’t have to be by texting. Video chatting on the phone or talking on the phone, or playing with the radio or a GPS while driving can cause anyone to become distracted- it only takes a few seconds.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a car accident because of a distracted driver, contact a Texas personal injury lawyer. You may be entitled to compensation.
