Two Pedestrians Killed in Fatal Accident

Posted on in Personal Injury
StaciAccording to the San Antonio Express-News, authorities have not yet identified two pedestrians who were fatally injured while walking on an East Side San Antonio street last weekend. The man and woman allegedly were walking in the eastbound lane of East Commerce Street at about 10:30 p.m. when they were struck by a pickup truck. The impact of the crash propelled the man into the opposite lanes of traffic, where he was then struck by a mini-van. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, whereas the woman later died at San Antonio Military Medical Center. Both drivers remained at the scene of the accident, and police do not believe that either driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident. While the details of this accident are still unknown, the death of pedestrians in a vehicle accident can lead to a wrongful death lawsuit in some cases. For instance, if a driver is found to be negligent, then he or she may be liable for damages. Negligence can involve a situation in which a driver was speeding, driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or violating another traffic law. In this case, surviving family members of the deceased may be eligible for compensation through a wrongful death lawsuit. Compensation can include the victim’s final medical expenses, funeral and burial expenses, loss of income for family members, and pain and suffering of the victim prior to death. If you have lost a loved one in an accident due to the negligence of another, you may be entitled to compensation through a wrongful death lawsuit.
