In one of New Braunfels more bizarre truck accidents, MySanAntonio.com reports that a cement truck recently crashed into the New Braunfels High School baseball stadium.  Posted on April 06, 2012 in Uncategorized

On April 3, 2012, ksat.com reported that an 82-year-old woman, Refugia Moreno, died when her vehicle collided with a garbage truck. The accident happened at about 3:30 pm in San Antonio, near Bexar County at Loop 1604 and Marbach Road. Upon impact with the garbage truck, Ms. Moreno’s vehicle blew up in flames. Her husband, age 84, was also in the car. Firefighters promptly arrived at the scene and were to able to free Ms. Moreno and her husband from the burning vehicle. Immediately following the accident, Ms. Moreno was airlifted to a hospital in an effort to save her life. Unfortunately, she was severely injured and passed away later that day. Her husband was also rushed to the hospital, but his injuries were minor and he is expected to make a full recovery. The two men in the garbage truck also received minor injuries. The Sherriff’s Department continues to investigate this truck collision and have yet to issue any citations. However, the Sherriff’s Department has hinted that the garbage truck may be at fault in the accident. A reader of ksat.com commented that he and his coworker first responded to the accident. The reader stated that he went into the backseat of the vehicle and was trying to calm down Mr. and Mrs. Moreno. The reader further stated that Mr. Moreno grabbed his wife’s hand and that he was “clearly more worried for his wife than himself. On March 22, 2012, a 28-year-old San Antonio woman, Jessica Rodriguez, and her 10-year-old daughter, were killed when their vehicle was hit while parked on the side of the highway. The car crash occurred on Interstate 10 West, on the north side of San Antonio, as Rodriguez and her daughter waited in the car for Rodriguez’s fiancé to change the vehicle’s flat tire.

Early Morning Truck Crash on I-35 Seriously Injures One

Posted on March 29, 2012 in Uncategorized

Shortly before 2:00 am on Monday, March 26, 2012, an 18-wheeler crashed on Southbound Interstate 35 in San Antonio, Texas, causing a huge disruption to the traffic pattern and major delays for hours. According to KSAT.com, the semi-truck’s trailer broke free and skidded across the median before landing in the Northbound lanes of I-35. The big rig first hit a small passenger vehicle with a woman inside, who rescuers were forced to extract from her car. Due to the severity of the crash, and difficulties extracting the woman, medical responders first called for helicopter transport before making the determination that the accident victim was stable enough to be transported by ambulance. It’s unknown whether or not the truck driver or another party was negligent in causing this truck crash. Unfortunately, semi-truck crashes in Texas are more common than they should be. Truck crash victims often end up with severe medical injuries that require long-term treatment that they may not be able to afford. Texas Infant Dies After Being Hit by Truck

Posted on March 28, 2012 in Uncategorized

On Saturday, March 17, 2012, an eighteen-month-old San Antonio infant, Byron Pizano, was hit by a truck driven by his aunt. The aunt was moving her vehicle, which was apparently parked in a driveway in the 900 block of Cincinnati Avenue, when she accidentally pressed her foot on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal. The infant was playing in the driveway directly in front of the vehicle so when the accelerator was pressed, the truck ran him over. According to Fox San Antonio, a man who was driving by and heard the crash stopped and scooped up the child, who was bleeding profusely. The man told police that it was obvious the boy’s injuries were serious, and that his head looked “soft.” As the infant was rushed to the hospital, the neighbors also witnessed the child’s traumatic injuries. The infant was hospitalized in critical condition for several days. After struggling for his life, the infant passed away on March 20, 2012 at University Hospital in San Antonio. Currently, the local police are unsure as to whether or not criminal charges will be filed against the aunt. However, even if the police do not charge her with a criminal act for the accident, the infant’s parents may still chose to sue her civilly by filing a wrongful death lawsuit in Texas state court. If you have found yourself in such a situation, you need a sensitive, but aggressive San Antonio car accident attorney.

Wrongful Death Lawsuits in Deadly Texas Auto Accidents

Posted on March 27, 2012 in Uncategorized

Police are asking for help identifying a driver involved in a deadly San Antonio car accident. According to News 4 (WOAI), a pedestrian was killed in a hit and run crash on the West side of San Antonio, early on the morning of March 25, 2012. The accident happened as the 28-year-old woman walked on the Cupples Road exit ramp from Westbound Highway 90. The driver who hit her didn’t stop, and she was later pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. If this hit-and-run driver is identified, the family of the woman who was killed could file a wrongful death lawsuit against that person in Texas state court. Per Texas law, when someone is killed in an accident of any kind, and if they had not been killed, they would have been able to recover damages through the filing of a personal injury lawsuit, the family of the deceased has grounds for a wrongful death case against the responsible party. With the assistance of a helpful New Braunfels personal injury lawyer, the spouse or child(ren) of someone who was killed due to another person’s negligence may be able to recover monetary damages for their losses. Although this money comes nowhere close to compensating them for their loss, it can help relieve some financial stress during a very difficult time. In Texas, plaintiffs in a wrongful death case may be eligible to receive money for medical, funeral and burial expenses, as well as loss of future income, loss of inheritance, loss of support, and sometimes, punitive damages. However, Texas wrongful death claims are complex, and insurance companies are usually in a hurry to offer a modest settlement in hopes that grieving family members will quickly accept. If you’ve lost a loved one in a San Antonio car or truck wreck, contact an experienced New Braunfels wrongful death lawyer to discuss your situation.
